FERON products must be installed by a licensed plumber.
All work must comply with AS/NZS 3500.1:2025 and applicable local plumbing regulations. Installation by an unlicensed person, or DIY installation, may void the manufacturer's warranty.
Before you install
- Not suitable for use with gravity-fed water systems (roof-tank supply without a mains-pressure pump).
- Flush all water supply lines thoroughly for at least 3 minutes to remove debris that may affect the flow-regulated aerator or damage the cartridge.
- Flexible connecting hoses must be connected to isolating stop valves.
- Recommended operating pressure: 150–500 kPa. Pressure test to AS/NZS 3500.1 at 1.5× maximum working pressure, held for at least 60 minutes with no pressure drop or leakage.
- Hot and cold inlet pressures should be equal. Where an imbalance occurs, install a pressure-reducing or balancing valve to match them.
- Maximum water temperature: 80°C. Domestic bathroom outlets require a tempering valve to limit the outlet temperature to a maximum of 50°C per AS/NZS 3500.4, to prevent scalding.
Important
- Do not apply heat directly to the mixer body when brazing or soldering. Use flexible isolating hose connections to avoid brazing near the body.
- Before waterproofing and tiling, pressure test the mixer and check for leaks and correct operation.
- Ensure enough thread or mixer body remains exposed beyond the finished wall or tile surface for correct trim installation. FERON is not responsible for issues resulting from incorrect rough-in depth.
- The warranty covers replacement parts or products only, not labour, installation, removal, tiling, waterproofing, transportation or any consequential costs.
Installation by product type
Basin & sink mixer
- Place the O-ring washer over the mounting hole in the sink or basin.
- Insert the mixer body through the mounting hole.
- Position the horseshoe washer and horseshoe plate onto the mounting bolt, and secure the mixer from underneath with the mounting nut.
For mixers with a threaded base
- Place the rubber ring on top of the metal plate and install both onto the threaded base.
- Hand-tighten the fixing ring onto the threaded base, then tighten the three fixing screws evenly.
- Connect the flexible hoses and hand-tighten securely. Do not use a spanner or wrench, as this may damage the O-ring. Red band = hot, blue band = cold. Hoses must connect to individual isolating stop valves, complying with AS/NZS 3500.1 Clause 5.4.2.
Shower & bath diverter mixer
- Install and secure the mixer body within the wall cavity. Facing the mixer, connect hot to the left and cold to the right.
- Fix the mixer body to a rigid timber or metal support frame within the cavity to prevent movement after tiling.
- Connect the inlet and outlet pipework in accordance with the plumbing layout.
- Turn on the water supply and check all connections for leaks. Verify the mixer and diverter operate correctly.
- After tiling, remove the protective cover, fit the cover plate, and install the handle and diverter knob. Secure with the grub screws.
Shower & bath mixer
- Install and secure the mixer body within the wall cavity. Facing the mixer, connect hot to the left and cold to the right.
- Fix the mixer body to a rigid support frame within the cavity to prevent movement after tiling.
- Connect the water supply and outlet pipework.
- Turn on the water and check all connections for leaks. Verify the mixer operates correctly.
- After tiling, remove the protective cover, fit the cover plate, and install the handle. Secure with the grub screw.
Wall mixer with spout
- Install and secure the mixer body and breech assembly within the wall cavity. Ensure the mixer and outlet are level before proceeding.
- Fix the mixer body to a rigid support frame within the cavity to prevent movement after tiling.
- Connect the water inlet pipework, verifying the "H" (hot) and "C" (cold) markings on the body.
- Turn on the water and check all connections for leaks. Verify the mixer functions correctly.
- After tiling, remove the protective cover, fit the cover plate, and install the handle and spout. Secure with the grub screws.
Cartridge replacement
- Turn off the water supply.
- Remove the indicator cap and loosen the grub screw inside the handle with a 2.5 mm Allen key, then remove the handle.
- Unscrew and remove the decorative cap by hand.
- Remove the retaining nut with a suitable tool and carefully lift out the cartridge.
- Clean the mixer body cavity and install the new cartridge, aligning the locating pins with the corresponding holes.
- Reinstall the retaining nut and tighten to 10 N·m with a calibrated torque wrench. Over-tightening will crack the mixer body.
- Refit the cap, reinstall the handle, tighten the grub screw and replace the indicator cap.
- Test the full hot/cold range and diverter (if fitted), check the flow under working pressure, and inspect all joints for leaks. Verify there is no leakage after 10 minutes.
